Why PPE's (Personal Protective Equipment) are important?

        Being a Safety Professional We know what is PPEs? and their uses.

        But the question arises, Why is it important to use? And the answer comes, to save a life. Is it? the PPEs Save Lives? What would be the right answer then? PPE is none other than the rescue agent which helps the workers to protect from health and safety risks. PPE is not the first option to use at work site. After implementing Engineering, Administrative and workplace practices in control. As it comes in the last option to be applied.

        Minimum Required PPEs before entering a Worksite are Hard Hats( or Safety Helmet), Safety Shoes, Heigh Reflective Jackets, Safety Glasses, Coveralls, Hand Gloves, Ear Muff etc. 

 
       Why is it important to Use PPEs at Worksite? Its Help to reduce the chances of injury to the health of the individual. Before applying the required PPEs for the task, we need to apply the hierarchy controls to the given task. If those controls are applied and the risk is controlled but some amount of risk may be available to harm the Individual so then we can apply the Last option is to use PPEs required for the task. 


Eve And Face Protection:-

Choose eye and face protectors based on the kinds of hazards you may encounter, Safety glasses or face shields should be worn when:

 • Working operations could cause foreign objects to get in your eyes (like welding, cutting grinding, and nailing)

 • You are working with concrete and harmful chemicals 

• You are exposed to electrical hazards-including working on energized electrical systems,

• You are exposed to flying particles.


Hand Protection:-

• Always wear proper gloves for the work conditions.

• Gloves should fit snugly.


Foot Protection:-

You should wear work shoes or boots with slip-resistant and puncture-resistant soles.

Safety-toes footwear is worn to prevent crushed toes when working around heavy equipment or falling objects.


Head Protection:-

Wear hard hats-in good condition - when there is potential for:

• Objects falling from above.

Bumps to the head from fixed objects.

• accidental head contact with electrical shock


Hearing Protection:-

•  Use earplugs/earmuffs in high noise work areas where chainsaws or heavy equipment are used. 

•  Clean or replace earplugs regularly,
